Consult with a career consultant - what do you truly enjoy? What would you do with your time if you didn't have to earn a living? Do that! Anything will pay if you work hard enough at it. Also, discover whether you like working with other people or perfer working on your own. Good luck to you!

By the way, 30 is quite young, even people in their 50s can successfully make career transitions.

A recent statistic says that the average American changes careers something like 5 or 6 times in their life. It's never too late to change. It may be rough for a while, but sure beats being miserable at a job you hate.

There are also many Interest Inventory tests, and such that will help direct you to a career field you might enjoy based on your interests and skills. Once you've narrowed it down, check out the Job Outlook Hnadbook on the Bearou of Labor statistics website. It'll tell you what kind of education you should have, what the average pay is, what the job outlook is through 2014 I believe. It's a great tool, and should definitely be used.

Hope this helps and I wish you best of luck in finding and entering a new career!

I made a career change at 46 years old and have never looked back! That's the easy part, the tougher part of your question is how would you go about finding the right one. Are you thinking of changing completely or branching out from what you do now? If you want to stay in the same line, but do something different, then you already should have the connections. If you are thinking of venturing out to something completely new, then that is something quite different. I too recommend reading Rich Dad Poor Dad as well as The Millionaire Mind, it teaches you about leverage and residual income, all essential for success.

Not too late. It's really up to you, whether you're willing to "recycle" as in perhaps go back to school, and then work for people younger than you. I went to law school in my late thirties, and have a more or less normal career. I did not do the grinding big law firm hours track with the high paying jobs. To find out what you really would be happy doing, you need to think of your skills, your ideal work environment, your likes and dislikes. A great book I recommend will do a Briggs-Myers test for you then tell you what jobs will fit your persponality. It's called "Do What You Are."

30's are still very young. I hope you live long enough to find this out. It is never too late to change a career. Decide what your 2 biggest passions are, then decide what your 2 strongest fields of expertise are, then use the combinations of passion and expertise to find your new career field. Then start the job search or financing search if you want to be self employed.

You really need to think about what you want in life. How is a career change going to help this? Careers are the concern of people less concerned with their families. "Career" is also the lingo of an employee. Your goal in life should not be how can I get a more exciting job. Your goal in life should be how can I get rid of this damn job, so that I can pursue my dreams while financially independent. Read Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki and de-program your employee mind-set. Don't be a cog in someone else's wheel, you fool!

Never too late. Sometimes you can take a test that will give you guidance to career choices in the guidance counselor's office of your local community college. This service may also be available on the web. I'm not sure, but I think the name is the Kuder Preference Test. It will give you a general direction of what your clear preferences are and what careers mesh with those preferences.

Hi there! I just turned 30 this past April, and i've decided to become a teacher. (I presently do office work) I decided I didn't want to spend the rest of my life in front of a computer every day, and I love kids, and i'm going back to school next spring to start my degree for Early Childhood Education. Then i'll have to eventually student teach. What I like about teaching is that i'll have summers off, woohoo! =) Anyway, it really all depends on what you want to do. Good luck with your decision!

Its never to late for a career change. The question is your attitude toward it and how you plan on attacking this change you want. There are many many people that do this very successfully.
