Watergate was not a lie, it was one party spying on another..something that goes on everyday. Nixon got caught and took the punishment. They are finding WMD's in Iraq but the perss keeps saying they are "Different" WMD's than what we were looking for, DOH! If President Bush wrapped up the Iraq situation tomorrow there would still be liberals complaing, you people just can not be happy as long as we have a strong leader in office that is not a Dem. By the way when was the last time we had a good Dem as President? Clinton..no, Carter the weak..no, LBJ creator of Welfare and escalating Viet Nam..no. I give up. Oh wait a minute Ronald Reagan almost counts (he use to be a democrat) but he was a republican in the end and a Great President.

The Watergate break-in involved the theft of documents from Democratic Party headquarters, in an attempt to gain political knowledge, and thereby advantage, over the Nixon Administration's opponents. The investigation into Watergate opened the doors to a President who was increasingly paranoid and hateful and a willing group of subordinates who would do almost anything, legal or illegal, to carry out his wishes. In other words, extreme abuse of power.

The WMD situation related to the efforts of the administration of George W. Bush to build a case for the invasion of Iraq. The term WMD was fairly new, and replaced the old "ABC" connotation for weapons of mass destruction, specifically atomic, biological, and chemical (hence a, b, c). In reality, any weapon that creates mass destruction, such as a home-made bomb that destroys subway tracks, let's say, leading to derailment and loss of life, could be considered a WMD.

It had been demonstrated by United States weapons inspectors over the years that any weapons of "mass" destruction that Iraq may have had in the past had been located and destroyed. Hence the Bush and neocon attempt to build a WMD case as the rationale for war is considered by many to be completely bogus. Evidence has been uncovered or disclosed which demonstrates that Bush and his cronies had determined early on in their administration to get rid of Saddam Hussein and occupy Iraq, at least for a sufficient time in which to make certain that Hussein and his own cronies were captured and/or out of power.

You be the judge. What's worse, to steal documents of political rivals, or to build a bogus case for a war in which thousands of Americans have been killed, tens of thousands seriously wounded or maimed for life, and many more tens of thousands of Iraqis murdered?

WMD was not a lie. Hussein gave every indication that he was engaged in producing WMD. Why did he continually kick out inspectors, if he had nothing to hide? At a minimum, he wanted the world to think he had them. If a hostage taker rushes out of a building and points an unloaded gun at the cops, and then they shoot him, who is at fault? That is exactly what Hussein did. Oh, never mind... I forgot THEY FOUND WMD in Iraq. You are just not paying attention.

Watergate was the bigger lie.

But, obviously, the war in Iraq is costing the country more financially, and in human capital.

We had a quit fireplace, not a peace treaty with Iraq. Saddam himself suggested he had WMD's. the international knew it and belived him. Your question should be why did Saddam lie and say he had WMD's. with the help of the way it replaced into suggested to shop Iran in verify.

WMDS in Iraq, because of the deaths of our soldiers, innocent civilians in a country we did not need to go to, and the BILLIONS of tax dollars that went to companies (HALABURTON) of friends/lobbyists of Bush and Cheney, that could have been spent on education, health care, real homeland security, or anything that would benefit America's standard of living.
