I really like the camera idea, thats really neat! Most organisations wont give away free boxes unless the area you are situated in is the best environment, and the owl species you wish to house are in danger.
The best Idea would be to make one on your own. Simply look at the layout of these expensive boxes and copy the idea. The price is always so high on the bought ones, even though they are really cheap to make.....thats the government for you....
Buying the materials and building one yourself can be really cheap, and then you could always make the necessary modifications to fit your camera inside..........so it might actually be better to buy the pieces and do it yourself.
Good Luck, sounds like a cool project!

the prices for nestboxes are absolutely ridiculous!!!!!! and quite often i find the nestboxes in shops inadequate (like too thin of with crevices that need mending, cant be hanged properly...) try to obtain a massive wooden box of any source (like used packaging of something, i believe you can get it for free), cut out the hole (can be rectangular) and put up. maybe you find different size, why not put up that too.

good luck with fluffy little owlets - but this should be done in winter or early spring!! too late for owls now unless you are aussie

only today i watched little birds fly (for their first time) out of nestbox on window sill when i had morning coffee - the great tit, Parus major, common but so much fun. second generation this year! the momma and daddy fly to fed them 10times per minute!!! so it is a bucket full of gnats every day!

You could contact the RSPCB to see if they would give a free one but most charities like that would want payment i would have thought. Why dont you make one yourself, it shouldnt take much and cost very little

May I suggest that you use natural wood. Be careful of chemicals and rust producing fasteners, we've harmed nature enough. I absolutely love the idea of the cam. Where will we be able to view it online? Please contect me with information. Thx

If you have access to wooden planks, a saw and a hammer/drill (and know how to use them)...problem solved!
