Data is just a techniical term for words. Words that you can put into a database or some other program that can be looked up. For example, if I programmed a database to find how many time the word data occurs in my database, it would return x number depending on how many times it was in the database.

If I put data into a spreadsheet, typically it would be a number, so that a calculation could be performed.

What are you asking?!?!

If you are talking about computer data then:

Raw data are numbers, characters, images or other outputs from devices to convert physical quantities into symbols, in a very broad sense. Such data are typically further processed by a human or input into a computer, stored and processed there, or transmitted (output) to another human or computer. Raw data is a relative term; data processing commonly occurs by stages, and the "processed data" from one stage may be considered the "raw data" of the next.

If you are talking about Star Trek:

Data is a character in the Star Trek fictional universe. A Soong-type android, Lieutenant Commander Data served as the second officer and chief operations officer aboard the starships USS Enterprise-D and the USS Enterprise-E. Data appeared throughout the Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG) television series and in later movies. Data is portrayed by actor Brent Spiner.
