I am about to have one in August and I don't really know anything about it. All I know is that it is more detailed than the normal one. Any help would be nice.

A level II ultrasound is done to look for normal growth and development of the fetus. The tech will take measurements of different body parts and they will be compared to the norms to make sure that your baby is progressing normally. Due to my "advanced maternal age," I am 36, I had several. I enjoyed each one because it is not a quick procedure, and my doc had a television monitor where I could watch my baby while the tech did her job. It was amazing! She is now 5 months old, and even though I get to see her all day/everyday, I realize how special those times were. Good Luck with everything!

I had a level 2 ultrasound with my 3rd child because I was over 35 when I got pregnant with her. It is a wonderful scan! You can see much more detail and they can also colorize it. What I mean is they colorized the heart so you can see how blood pumps in and out (one was blue, one was red), they also did that with the umbilical cord as there are 2 arteries and a vein that run through it. It takes longer than a normal ultrasound but is well worth the time.

It means your first ultra-sound was not clear as your doctor wants , wants 2nd label test.
