Yes. Nixon was a paranoid individual who went to extremes to maintain power. However, when you measure Nixon job performance versus Bush's there is no comparison. During the Nixon years, middle class wages were almost twice what they are under Bush. He passed the Clean Air and Water Act which Bush is dismantling piece by piece. Nixon opened China to the rest of the world. Bush looks to them to purchase our debt. Nixon pulled the US out of Vietnam. Dumbyah invaded Iraq under false pretenses.

You speak of approval rating as if it were something important... It's a media thing to either illogically inflate a President's fortunes (as with aforementioned Clinton, who was pathologically obsessed with his approval numbers) or try to de-legitimize an administration, as they are doing now to the current Bush administration. The economy and stock market are better than they have been in a long time, the tax cuts which the President pushed for have obliterated the economic slowdown that started under Clinton and was exacerbated by 9/11... Unemployment is as low as it has been in a couple generations, the Iraqi government is taking shape and will quite possibly be able to handle things for itself in the very near future.
Much of the President's low standing in the polls is the under reporting of a lot of positives that have taken place under the radar (His administration is much more focused on doing the country's business than having every other talking head in an official position on CNN or MSNBC every night). The Bush Administration has taken some hits about their honesty and integrity - and the more time goes on, the more the media stories are being shown to be completely false or misleading.
Approval ratings have nothing to do with competency. Approval ratings are polls - and are the result of the questions being asked. So many poll respondents are ignorant sheep who have been spoon fed all sorts of downright wrong and misleading information by a news media that hates the President. I take his low approval ratings as a badge of honor - because it merely shows the true colors of the news organizations conducting the polling.

Armchair theories and incompetents speak President is busy with a war on terrorists on several fronts and busy making this country safe enough for you to sit back in you warm armchair and critisize. Clinton was busy out buying cigars for the ORAL office in the country's White House.
By the way what is your approval rating ?

Bush's approval rating is 45%, so I guess you don't know what you're talking about! John Kerry and Congress as a whole has an approval rating of 26%, what do you make of that smart-***?

It becomes popular to approve or disapprove a president. Right now if you approve of George bush there is a lot of peer pressure not to. Peer pressure works on everybody of all ages. This is why there are wild swings in approval. Once if becomes "OK" to approve of bush his rating will go up.
This is just one factor obviously

I don't think it is amazing, what he has is some people that pull his strings. He is a puppet and the people that are working the dummy are the ones that are incompetent and corrupt. It will all come out in the history books. I am sure.

Goes to show you, never judge a person by his approval ratings. There are plenty of incompetent but popular people.
