sheep are very fearful by nature, and any changes in their surroundings make them apprehensive and ready to flee. Therefore I think sheep can't drink from the running water cuz of its noise and so on.....

As far as I can see the sheep around here drink from running water in mountain streams - who said they didn't?
Or - it could be that they can't turn the tap on!
