Employment suggestions for retired teacher?

Please suggest rewarding employment ideas for a retired teacher . I can't work in a public school, or I will lose monthly pension. I would like to earn $40-50 K. Thanks

Private schools pay 30K, need business ideas, please.

Have you considered teaching in the private sector? Religious schools? Teaching prisoners so they can get their GED? Writing a book? Creating a website for teachers to share ideas, support, etc.? Develop learning materials to sell to schools?

If all else fails, I've done good with on-line auctions. It's fun and you can be your own boss.

I'm guessing you didn't work at a secondary school where they may have had a career counselor on staff. I'm a high School career counselor and I would ask you what do you like to do? At the high end (i.e., 50K) you'd be making $26.00/hr. Would someone pay you $26 to tutor their high school son/daughter? Of course they would especially if there was an increase in grade that put their child on the honor roll or they went from a D to a B. How about teaching a course at the community college? or look into tech schools and see if your teaching skills can be marketed in the vocational school industry.
You might want to consider combining tutoring and a second teaching career and see how things go. It sounds you're not ready to sit down on the front porch and do people watching.

Gosh.. run a mentoring program for kids.. that's what I'd do if I had all that experience and wanted something rewarding. I mentor a child and love it! I want to mentor another, but my wife and I don't spend enough time together as it is. :(

The $40-$50K doesn't really mean much to me unless you mention where you are at in the world and what the average house cost is. :) Cheapest rent I can find here is about $550. Cheapest where my relative lives.. freaking $1500. I would assume the pay scales are somewhat related.

My sister is a school teacher for almost 20 years now, every summer she is a Life Guard at beaches. She also became a Physical Theripest (sp?) at a local Gym.

I know a teacher that works in a walk in babysitting center.
