Where? US or worldwide?
Worldwide the Japanese will all go for the Wii. They support Nintendo everytime and I'm sure the Wii will totally rule Japan.
The US will probably be more even matched, but I will still go with the Wii. 600 bucks is just too much to pay for a system, I don't know why Sony thinks we're made out of money, but when you weigh the differentials: Revolutionary Wii for 250... Better graphics and Blu-Ray (which will probably become obsolete) PS3 for 600. I choose Wii.
Also, if you payed any attention to E3, the Wii totally owned the PS3 there. PS3 really has nothing to offer besides better graphics, and if you want that, there's the 360 for less.
I know I didn't address the whole world...because I don't really know otherwise besides Japan and the US.
It hasn't even been released yet and I already hate the PS3 because of the high price for a better graphic PS2.

I have thought about this myself but I think the wii will probably will do better. The reason is, yes people love PlayStation and not too many people like Nintendo. But when you buy a PS3 you are getting really good graphics and pretty good games. But when you buy a Wii, you are getting a whole new way to play video games. It is almost like awesome graphics VS. good graphics AND revolutionary game play. Also another thing that might make the Wii sell better is that it is only 250 dollars rather than 600 dollars for the PS3.

I hope the Wii sells more. From what I understand with that you'll be able to play games from the other Nintendo game systems as well as the new games made for the Wii of course. The PS3 is going to be awesome but the thing I don't like about that system is a person won't be able to rent games for it or trade games or borrow games to play in it. Once a game has been played in a PS3 it will only work for that PS3 and no others.

ps3 is a poor excuse for a console. its first showing at e3 (2005) just showed PRE-RENDERED images, not in game. at e3 (2006) the images were jumpy and of poor quality. Ps3 has a poor game line-up, an example of this is a breakdancing game! It stole the wii's controller, rushed the design (its bigger and uglier than the original x-box). Has had problems with the blu-ray disc, controller and the cost!
Buy the 360, as it has the best online gaming, the best line-up, including dead rising, halo 3, GTA 4, etc. It has better graphics that look amazing on normal tvs. It last longer than a plastic ps3, and looks amazing under your tv!
The Wii is by far the best in terms of innovation. Its controller is one of its most important feature. Not only is it motion sensitive, you can plug other accesories into the controller like other controllers! Not only that, the console looks amazing showing that they dont intend to let the oher console win. Ninendo have said they want to make games that are enjoyable for everyone, hence the name Wii (pronounced we), and said that graphics aren't that important.
In fact buy BOTH the 360 and wii as this still costs the same as a ps3! "Buy a 360 and a wii, forget the ps3" Power To The Xbox!

I believe the Wii has a larger potential for sales for the following reasons.
1)It will be considerably less expensive, with most current estimates between $200-$250
2)It will offer a gamplay experience not seen before in gaming with the Wii-mote (unlike PS3 which is the same experience, just prettier)
3)It will have a back catalog of games from nintendo's history that many long time gamers treasure, and will want to replay.
PS3 will sell well from its fairly large install base on PS2, but when faced with the choice of being able to afford a XBOX 360 and a Wii for the price of a PS3, it will be harder to pull in people. Also the massive popularity of the DS has shown that people are very willing to try new gameplay innovations, especially when they come at budget prices.

I would expect the PS3 to do better. Sony makes a great system, but I think the time between PS2 and PS3 was too long. Also, the XBOX is really kicking tail since it has been out there for so long now. I don't think Sony will catch them. The Wii has a lot of Nintendo followers, I agree that it is a lot of fun for those Mario games, but that is about it.

I think it's going to be wii. There will be less obstacles to getting it. It's cheaper, and will probably not have manufacturing problems that higher performance machines have, so it will probably be easier to get, where as I would imagine you will see PS3s on ebay for rediculous prices. wii also has good launch titles and will be backwards compatible with Gamecube. So those who have never owned a gamecube will have a large selection of games to choose from. Where as the many people who own PS2 will probably not care to upgrade to PS3 right away, because it's backwards compatibility is not as important.

i would think the wii because its suppost to appeal to new gamers and its under 300 *so they say* and honestly i think it sounds like it has more to offer with the new remote system. why pay so much for the ps3 when from what im hearing it won't be that much better than the xbox 360

i think PS3 will sell more units bcause PS2 has sold more units than any other systems. so PS3 will probably sell more bcause of its better graphics and other enhanced things It is simply more popular.
