Pretty near everything commonly grown in England. Lincolnshire is one of the major market gardening areas, though Lincoln itself is on a ridge of limestone, I believe.

The 'Complete Online Guide to How to Be a Gardener' may give you some ideas! http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/htbg/module7/growing_vegetables.shtml

Bear in mind that there are some things which one can buy so easily and freshly locally that it's hardly worth wasting your garden space or time on them. Concentrate on the more exotic things and things (like tomatoes) where the varieties with the most flavour are not grown commercially.

Often you can grow things that might otherwise need a greenhouse under cloches or polytunnels (miniature ones - not the ones you can walk in!)

PS - Don't forget the herbs!

Rosemary is fantastic near a barbecue area. It is the only plant that smells sweet as it's burning and takes away the disgusting smell of burning beefburger fat! Parsley is ALWAYS needed! The person who grows good parsley, it is said, is the one who wears the trousers in the house! Mint should be grown in a container otherwise it will spread like anything! Try fresh mint and marmite sandwiches some time. Sage is a lovely plant and the varegated varieties can be grown in a flower bed. Thymes come in so many kinds and are as good grown in a rockery or in a patio container as in the herb garden proper. Chives are neat, attractive and should be snipped into every salad or dish of mashed potatoes!

Look for a local gardener's groups, or go find the allotments if any exist, see what they are growing and which grows best, then chat with all the locals who have great gardens, because they know and understand the soil in their locality!

Plant Apple Trees, oranges, grapes, the list is endless. But first i would go to a local Garden Centre near to where you are moving and ask them.

Isn't there a local gardening/vegetable growing club - they would be the best to ask - and they would be able to deliver you the right advice and seeds.

Hash plants, these can be retailed for a good profit and then you can buy whatever fruit and veg you want.
