I'm a graphic designer also. Layout the pieces you want to show in whatever program you choose, maybe give it a tital and brief explanation what it is. Make a pdf (if you need help with that, let me know).
my online portfolio website is www.lesleyhunter.com

You need to send them a cd with your work at full size and resolution. I t doesn't hurt to dress up the cd packaging as well, you are after all a designer. Try to make the work you are submitting very similar to the type of design work they do at the company you are trying to get a job at. Good Luck, it is really hard to get a job in this industry these days, it seems everyone is or wants to be a graphic designer.

Did your school not show you how to create an electronic portfolio?

Well, easiest thing for you to do is create pdfs of your work. Be sure they aren't over 5MB just in case of server issues. And pdfs are very versatile, most folks can view them.

have any other work? attach it to an email and send that to them.
otherwise, get a webpage and slap something up quick. buy a pro site, 5.95 per month for 6 months, should be cheap enough.

just send it by email with your name and a copyright symbol layered on top.

You can throw up a website in no time flat though,
