one episode rodney asked trigger 'why do u keep calling me dave'
trigger replied' cos its ur name' and gave a look like rodney was thick
trigger really thought dave was his name

Because Trigger is very stupid and has never noticed that he has Rodney's name wrong. It's a joke to make the audience laugh.
