Hi i am a 19 year old female. I am wondering what is going on. It is the 13th of july and i still haven't started my menstrual cycle. It last began on June 5th of last month. I have had unprotected intercourse a few times this month but a home test said i was not pregnant. Do you have any ideas about what is going on? please help?

A shop bought urine pregnancy test can detect a pregnancy from around the time your period would be due but sometimes if the levels of HcG hormone are not yet high enough in your urine it will not detect them, this can also be the case if you test midday or your urine is very diluted as you have been drinking a lot of fluid - the HcG is just not concentrated enough to show up on the test. One option is to leave it a few days - a week maybe, and see if your period starts - if not try another test.

If you can't wait that long make an appointment to see your doctor. He/she can arrange for a blood test which will be more sensitive at detecting the minute levels of HcG in your bloodstream form an early pregnancy. He/she might also do a blood test to check whether you might have any hormonal imbalance which has interrupted your normal monthly cycle.

To be honest though, many women skip or are late for periods for no other reason that that they are stressed or that their bodies are just "out of whack" for one reason or another. Nothing serious.

If you're worried though, see your doctor.

hi there... it is really good to know that you aren't alone. I too had my period on the 5th of last month and i am stiiiiiiiiil waiting????. So we are on the same path here. I already have a 15 month old. the first give away with her was tender breasts. I am not experiencing that this time. I am experiencing all the other things though??? Yet, my home tests have shown up neg????
I am going to wait another week and then go for a blood test if i don't end up with a pos home test.

I feel like im pregnant???

You might want to consider going in to your clinic and having a blood test done for pregnancy to completely rule it out. Because when i was pregnant the at home test was negative and i went to the clinic and the test was positive. Do you have diabetes or are you on any medications? Sometimes these things can be factors in missing your period. Sometimes even stress i have heard.

If you're totally freaked about it, go to the doc. My sis had the same problem and the home test was neg. But then she didn't get her period for a 2nd month and home test still showed neg. She went to the doc and surprise - 2 mos pregnant. Home tests aren't perfect. If you really want peace-of-mind, go to the doc.

It could just be stress, that will usually happen if you have unprotected sex and start worrying about pregnancy. I don't know why that happens but it does. You should go to the doctor just in case though.

It's possible that you are either going through emotional or physical stress. Take it easy, and your period will come once you've kind of let go of those stresses.
