It depends on the content of your chat. Are you talking dirty? Complaining about your spouse? If it's innocent and you're just chatting, it's probably okay unless it bothers your spouse. If it's dirty, then he or she has every right to be mad at you and you should knock it off.

Depends, if that person is a long time friend or co-worker. If you are chatting online when you could be spending your time with your wife, yes it is. Of course to me, even thinking of someone else is cheating. I was married for 12yrs and I would not even go to lunch with a female co-worker unless there was a group of people because I didn't want anyone getting the wrong impression or her ever doubting my love, honesty or trust.

That depends. What are you chatting about? If you wouldn't say or do the same things with your wife/spouse/girlfriend right there with you, it's cheating.

No, but it does depend on the nature of the conversation. Now i know you know when you meet someone you will automatically get an idea of what that person wants out of you...so the only thing that pisses me off is when guys act dumb and know that the girl is up to no good but he still talks to her. But, it is still not cheating in my book however it could lead to situations that will cause cheating becase women are persistant and when they want something (especially a guy that has another half) they're going to try their best to get it

Depends really...If you are "Cybering" then Yes...that does count as cheating..Sex is sex..even if you are only touching yourself and talking to a girl on her webcam...Looking at Porn..totally different.

But if you are just talking and chatting..innocently..For instance..you are in a chat room about a hobby you have..and you talking hobby stuff and being friendly like you would in a coffee shop..then No..that isn't considered cheating.

If the chatting becomes meaningful and/or sexual.
Yes it is.

Since you're asking the question, clearly something has happened in your chatting at that level.

Ask yourself this: If your wife/girlfriend could SEE the chat; would she be hurt? If she would..... you're cheating.

As long as it is just harmless conversation. It crosses the line when it becomes sexual or you are emotionally involved. Or if you confide things to this person that you do not talk about to your wife or gf. Be careful with this, an internet affair is just as harmful as any other.

I think Alex had it right...if your wife or girlfriend read what you were saying and she was hurt by it, then yes. You're getting very close to cheating if not doing it outright.
