I am not sure about specifics, I don't think there is enough in the lyrics to get a specific event or incident that it refers to (of course, I may be wrong, somehting had to inspire the song).

SoaD are one of the few remaining bands that are artists, as in their work is meanigful and insightful, and like the best artists, open to interpretation. A lot of their lyrics relate to emotions and the expression of them rather then detailing circumstances.

However, this caught my interest so I just checked wikipedia and found this:

which might give more insight. I particualrly like the explanation of the 'angels deserve to die' line

Judging the form of a nasty via a single lyric is only ignorant. The which skill of the song could be interpreted in many methods, in my opinion i think of that is approximately faith. And no, they do no longer seem to be Christian, besides the undeniable fact that stated that. Musically their form is debatable yet they are in all probability alongside the lines of option of progressive metallic. no longer emo via any skill.

The song isn't about suicide from a persons point of view, I think the suicide it relates to is from a personal point of view, and not actually committing suicide. There are more references to God in the song than anything including lines from the Bible:

"Father unto your hands, I commend my spirit, Father into your hands, why have you forsaken me?"

To me that points to the song being about someone who has lost their faith in God due to things happening around them in their social lives. I could be completely wrong, but...

I think it is talking about someones mother who put up with domestic violence for the sake of a child who can't understand why she covers it up instead of leaving. She feels she was doing it for him (self righteous suicide).

This is what i can gather from reading the lyrics

If you listen to any of their tunes the lyrics dont really make sense, the reason for this is that they know people will try to read deeper meaning into them, while they sit back and laugh about it! ;P

JUST ENJOY THE TUNE!!!!!!!

While it is about suicide, it's not about a literal "Father" the "Father" that he is refering to is Jesus.. " Father into your hands I commend my spirit" He's talking about Jesus, and how he's commiting suicide for selfish reasons.. but he thinks he's an angel who deserves to die.
