Depends on what water conditioner you get. StressCoat adds aloe to the water, as well as electrolytes to help keep the fish healthy; it also dechlorinates and takes away chloramines.

Most other water conditioner just dechlorinate and get rid of chloramines. Some contain extra stuff to get rid of ammonia and extra nitrates. Others can buffer the pH.

For the record, setting out water for a couple of days will allow the chlorine to dissipate, but it doesn't work for chloramines. It takes at least a week, sometimes longer depending on conditions.

Good luck!

I have owned many beta's. Why do you need to condition the water? Beta's like it sloppy! I dont think it would do anything to the fish its self. I prob would take the Beta out and put it in something then put the conditioner in the water.

It will basically remove the chlorine, and softens the water, which is only a problem if you have super hard water. Beta's are pretty strong, they can handle the minerals, but you definitely need a de-chlorinator.

Not much for a betta other than remove the chlorine. If you just leave the water out for a few days the chlorine is gone.

Well I guess it depends on what that particular water condiditoner does, but chlorine is just as bad for Bettas as any other fish. If it replaces or protects their slime coat, then that works for Bettas too.

First cycle the ten gallon! thats likely why the goldfish died! in case you dont pick to attend 6 weeks to cycle your tank purely purchase some products that without delay cycle your tank like tetra aqua secure start up and likely you could placed your betta in after this. and btw a 10 gallon is to small for a goldfish!
