My daughter keeps her uniform clean, so I don't need to buy much for her. However, my son is filthy every day! Make sure you have plenty of shirts - he has a clean one every day. Shorts are better than trousers. We buy plenty of trousers in the winter months due to rips and tears around the knee. You will be ok with two jumpers, unless they get lost. The other expense is shoes - three pairs this school year for my son, two for my daughter.
The problem with buying too many at once though is that they grow. So really, it's better to buy as you need.

If you buy 2 complete sets(shirt+shorts), then you will need to wash every Tues and Thurs. If you buy 3 complete sets, then you will need to wash on Wed and the weekend. If you but 5 complete sets, you can wash only on the weekend. Two sweatshirts and one jacket are needed. When the weather gets cooler, substitute pants for the shorts in the above complete sets. I do the 3 complete sets with 3 sweatshirts and one jacket and 6 pairs of socks. Been buying uniforms for 16 years now. And try not to buy the cheap fabrics because with all that washing the cheap stuff does not hold up. The shorts I bought lasted for 3 years for 2 different children and they were worn 5 months out of the year. They STILL have creases down the front and back and I do not iron uniforms. For younger students, don't expect to have them wear white or yellow shirts everyday. They get so stained. We used red shirts and navy shorts and I could wash them together in a load and stains from food, drink, art, and playground do not show so distinctly.

Depends on how many children you have ! School should provide a list of the minimum necessary uniform items. One jacket, two trousers (one trouser always tears first day) (or skirts), 3 shirts (blouses), school logo for sewing onto said jacket and the socks for hockey, football, rugby, netball. swimming etc, followed by the various games equipment, bag to put PE stuff in, satchel, brief case for books, pens pencils, rules, name tabs and there will be a designated shop (school must get a rake off) to which you are directed by the school so all the little dears look like clones and no matter how smart they are when they leave for school they will return with BOYS: shirts out, belt lost, nose bleeding, arm round new best friend. GIRLS: Skirts mysteriously shorter than when they left the house and arm round new very best friend. There will be a ton of homework which they cleverly did on the way home in the bus ! So it begins and will cost you thousands and thousands of pounds to take them through school and on to University if they are lucky. Good luck to you and yours.

each and every Septembr I had a sparkling pair of school shoes and new clothing if those from the previous 365 days were too small or wrecked. many of the time if there became a difficulty with them, they were wrecked (usually from taking area in football in the time of damage in college with the lads-this went on top up till i became 16!) yet my mum's way of searching at it became, if it regarded ok, and equipped the way it ought to, then do not difficulty with a sparkling one, she'll only smash it besides! in spite of the indisputable fact that, when I bear in mind that she were given me a sparkling skirt (which I HATED!!!) and the only time I wore it I were given Hydrochloric acid on it in technological information which burnt a hollow by potential of it. (It became an twist of destiny!!) there's a lot less of a sacrifice in spite of the indisputable fact that from mum and dad to purchase new clothing for toddlers (exceptionally youthful toddlers uniforms!) the position mum and dad are better off now than they became once, and that i imagine that the position distinctive mum and dad can provide their toddlers issues they under no circumstances had even as they were starting to be up, they take finished great thing about this. i do not imagine it truly is a difficulty-my mum and dad used to take my previous clothing to the charity save once i'd grown out of them in the journey that they were nevertheless good adequate for wearing. (no longer that I did a lot starting to be previous my toddlers-i have been 5 ft 2 considering i became 16!)

Shouldn't have to buy any, if the schools want children to wear uniforms they should provide them. Especially for families who are on benefits and cannot afford them.
