I didn't receive it as an email--it showed up on a yahoo group.

dear
these kind of mails are junk emails and u must delete them and report them as spam
don't worry about any mails in your inbox
simply delete them if u don't wanna find a new problem

All the e-mail addresses have four parts. You can see for the validity using this method. Lets take virtual.ranger@yahoo.com as an example. Look for the '@' sign. It is special and can be found in any e-mail address. Left to it is the user accunt id name. This may give you a clue most of the time. But as I have used, no one can gues who virtual.ranger is. Then right to the '@' sign comes domain name where the e-mail is saved and where the service is provided. Then at the end comes the extension from which you can most probably identify the type of server. Organizations use .org, Commercial companies use .com etc...
Even with all these things there may be a spoofed address. So becareful when you open a mail fom an unknown address. It may harm your system.
