Today I am getting a 3D ultrasound done today. I was wondering if anyone else has had this done before and is it worth the $200 I am going to spend?

I have to have an ultrasound every 3 weeks due to extreme complications do you think I should wait a little longer to have it done as well?

Not sure if it's to late for you, but a couple things to share. First, for the best "new born" look you should probably wait until at least 28 weeks, the brown fat on the baby forms by then and you lose the skelatal look you will most likely get at 24 weeks. Also, depending on if you want to see the baby moving around, or are just interested in seeing the face would make a difference; If you just want to see your baby's face, I would wait until around 32 weeks, much better face shots, but not much movement. Finally regardless of what you decide, make sure the place you go has A Board Certified M.D. overseeing and preferrably looking at the scan, otherwise you may be have a medical procedure done by a novice with little or no training and no idea of what they are looking at from a medical perpective. Ultrasounds are a medical procedure, make sure you treat it that way.

Well I had a regular ultrasound done at the hospital when I had a small amount of spotting with my first pregnancy. It was wonderful to see my baby, watch her move around, and I felt very reassured that she was OK. But I wouldn't pay $200 for it. That's a lot of money and you could put it towards something your baby really needs, like a good car seat. I admit they are cool, but you will see your baby soon enough. The real problem with private ultrasounds is that the people preforming them are not medical professionals. They can sometimes claim to see problems that are not really there, or you could see something worrying and they would not be able to explain it to you. Really an ultrasound is a medical tool and should be used by trained medical professionals. If you really want an ultrasound you should talk it over with your doctor first and then get one in a hospital.

i had my 3d ultrasound done when i was pregnant last time and loved it! it depends on how much your getting for the $200...i spent $100 on mine and got 3 black and white printouts, 2 color print outs, a cd with 17 pictures and a vhs tape of the session. I dont think I would pay more than 150 for what I got....and depending on where you live you might be able to find somewhere cheaper and get more.

Are you kidding me!! Run from those stupid doctors and find somebody with a brain. My dr won't use the doppler to check for the heartbeat until 12 or more weeks. He uses a Transvaginal US to check at 9 and 10 weeks. Without that they really couldn't estimate how far along you are, and even then its not that accurate that early on. I am 18wks and will find out my official due date on Tuesday at my next ultrasound. Don't let them touch your baby until you see a real doctor, not a quack pretending!!

i would be thankful that they are doing the ultra sound.. and it will be worth for you to know the baby is fine...and i know people that have got to keep a picture there self...you will see the baby and all his or hers little fingers and toes...it should be a joyous occasion for you.. do not worry about the money at this point..i have known many people that have ultra sounds done.. and all was fine...but even by chance something was wrong you will know that to... but i think all will be fine.. good luck... and try and be happy.. do not think negative at this time...relax and just take a Little at a time...do not worry about things that are insignificant right now......

i have had regular ultra sounds, and the first one is always amazing. you get to see the little life growing inside you thats priceless .i was never privileged to have the three-d ultrasound but from what ive heard they have ten times more detail so the image is clearer. i would say it would be worth every penny.

an ultrasound will tell you the age of the fetus as well as any possible problems that could exist.......and if the baby is positioned right you can find out if its a boy or a girl if you want to know
