you should be however you feel the most comfortable. if you feel as though you are happy being a little bigger then some people then yes, you should be happy in whatever figure you are in. However, if you want to go on a diet because it would make you feel even better then by all means, go on the diet but, do it for you and for you ONLY, nobody else.

I'm not heavy, so I'm going to answer this as if you were my child.

Being happy should have little to nothing to do with your figure. Being happy is a state of mind brought on by knowing who you are- your personality, values, etc and liking yourself- living with integrity (according to your values), etc.

If you are heavy and are serious about loosing the weight, I'd suggest meeting with your doctor. Have some bloodwork done, to check for any imbalances.

I really think that being overweight isn't the problem- it's a symptom. Work with your doc to solve the problem* and the symptom (ie: your extra weight) will get resolved, or at least become a lot easier to resolve.

Yes, I think there are a LOT of possible causes (or at least contributing factors) for obesity- bad thyroid, activity level, diet (usually an attitude about food), depression, medications, etc.

Best of luck, and above all- love yourself!

To answer this question, I would need to know your definition of "fat." We see an awful lot of people these days that think they are "fat" when in fact they are not. I'm overweight (by all the charts) and I'm on a diet. I'm losing a little bit at a time but the biggest thing is that I've educated myself and have started eating (and drinking) healthier. The most important thing is being healthy. If you're healthy (you should definitely have a doctor check you over), then by all means, find contentment with where you are.

you should be happy with yourself... however that does not mean that you shouldnt be healthy... if you work out 3-4 times a week and watch what you eat (not a diet though) you can be healthy. Being healthy is not being a size 2 being healty is taking care of yourself and making sure your body gets what it needs.

Dont go and eat out everyday... make sure you are drinking water and lots of it and get active. if you are not looking to loose weight this will keep you healty. The more out of shape you are the worse you will make things for yourself. You are putting yourself at risk for diabetes, high blood pressure, heartattack, and many other things.

Don't listen to all those who preach skinnier is better.... I have a good cushion and men LOVE it! But most importantly, I love it.... It's much better for a woman to be soft and curvy, than to be hard and bony.

This skinny thing is just a passing fad and if you are strong and healthy, who cares if you have some extra girth, love your shape!
Look at Marylin Monroe...still considered to be the sexiest woman who ever lived and she was a size 14.

It's all about attitude, people will see the way you feel about yourself. So love yourself..... that is what is most important.

well i have no problems with people being fat. it should be live and let live!
but my suggestion to you is that if your over weight , then try and reduce. coz too much weight is not good for health. it leads to a lot of problems like heart attacks, back aches, joint pains, high blood pressure , etc. so why not just stay fit instead of being fat or too skinny!
you may feel fit right now but think of the future. your being fat or too skinny right now will prove fatal for the future. so just go and check out from the doctor , how many pounds or kilos are you over weight! then try and reduce to a certain weight with which you should feel fit. being fit has anothter feeling to it!

You might be happy, but will you be healthy as well???

They say food is a great pleasure but I guess if you go on a diet for a while and then manage to have a balanced nutrition, you'll still get the same pleasure.

you will NOT be happy fat. thats the bottom line. it will be easier, obviously, but you will NOT be happy.

i know how hard it is to kick old habits, and i know being fat is no easy habit to kick, but just do me these favors:

- don't get complacent. even if you don't every try to get healthy, don't buy into that "its a thyroid problem" crap. always remember that it's a choice, not a unchanable situation.

- be more concience of your habits, and be open to criticism. don't let people be complete @$$holes about it, but also realize obesity is unhealthy in most cases, and you should be concerned with turning yourself around.

- never give up! never surrender! check your BMI regularly!!

On my nursing exam the question was, "Whose at the highest risk for death, a person who smokes, a person with heart disease, or an obese person? The correct answer, an obese person.
Obesity causes:
coronary heart disease
high blood pressure
type 2 diabetes
sleep apnea
gallstones
gynecological problems
osteoarthritis
The best way to lose weight is exercise and to raise your metabolism.

You should try to lose weight for your health. It's so easy not to do anything and pretend you're happy. Get up off your butt and take a walk. And not to the refrigerator, either.
