He obviously used invisible boat shoes. Everyone knows that he is quite the carpenter.

RE:
How does Criss Angel walk on water?
I saw Criss Angel walk on water on TV last night. People were swimming under him, so there was nothing under him for support. He even took his shoes off- so his shoes have nothing to do with it. So what's the secret?

His tricks are all done with actors...including the onlookers. None of it is real (obviously). Either there was plexiglass under him, or he was supported by a crane with a very thin line... which could be edited out. Basically anything that can be done in movies, he can do with the same special effects. He is just using special effects and actors to make a magic doco spoof.

Plexiglass just below the water. Just like they do it in the movies, except in the movies everybody knows its fake, but in magic its fake, but people are like "is it fake"? Of course its fake.

there was probably a glass slate under the water that he stepped on, like they used in america's next top model. it doesn't go down the bottom of the water, so people could still swim.

My opinion is there was a sheet of Plexiglas or a clear material with the same index of refraction as water making the sheet nearly invisible in water. The sheet was about one inch thick standing on edge, resting on the bottom and the other edge one inch below the surface of the water. In some places there are two sheets side by side because he does not always step in line. There was a hole in middle near the bottom where the girl swims through and blows bubbles. There was also a gap or notch at the surface where the girl with sun glasses steps through just ahead of Criss near the end of his walk. Watch her closely as she slips through and then Criss takes a wider step over the notch. If you freeze the frame of the underwater scene when the shoe drops you can see the shadow of the edge of the sheet on the side and bottom of the pool.

Since he's doing it on TV......and it's not humanly possible, I'd guess it's camera trickery of some kind.
