we are a drama group looking to hire out a 500 seater theatre out of london, preferably including light and sound costs.

In the US, 5 to 10 thousand dollars would not be out of the question... also depends on how much of their staff would be required in addition to the sound and lighting equipment you mentioned.

You'll be surprised at the range of costs!

The only way to know is to ask them -- honest.

Factors are: labor costs, the season of the year, publicity, the material. Wow, the list could go on and on!

However, I think you can do it! Feel free to ask them to negotiate!

They will want to have a flat amount, plus a cut of the house. Most likely they will take it all, and give you a cut of what they make. They will want to cover expences first.
