based onmy experiences, the two year school I went to was better as far as the professors were much more personable and much less full of themselves. Another advantage is cost, generally speaking, the community college is usually much cheaper. I completed my two year degree and then transferred with full junior status, without having to take as many classes as if I had gone to the four year school for the entire time. The campus is generally much smaller, and easier to navigate. With more one-on- one attention, you have better opportunities for individualized learning and building a rapport with your professors.

There are disadvantages, though. Less sports, less "prestige"...
But I'd say the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.

For one, two years should cost less than four. The experience with the people there is probably going to be different though, especially if you go into the experience thinking "I'm only going to be here for two years, I don't need to get attached to too many friends."

It really depends what you want to go into as well. If you have something very specific in mind that you can get a degree in in two years, I would say go with that. If you aren't 100% sure, either go to a four year college or a community college for a bit until you have it figured out a little bit better.

well, if you screwed around in high school and got bad grades a community college can help you bring those grades up so you can transfer to a good school. Personally, I look down at 2-year colleges. Trade school is ok if you're not the academic type and a military college can be fun if you're really gung ho about the military lifestyle. Places like VMI and The Citadel are great military colleges.
