I have a graco snug ride, my 2 1/2 month old seems to be very comfortable. It was a travel system with a base to strap into the car and a stroller that the carseat can snap into. It's GREAT I wish I would have had something like it for my 7 yr old. Part of whats best is a personal opinion. A rep told us at our local OB classes at the hospital that the graco snug rides were better for newborns because they "hug" the baby and are less likely to have their littles heads lean way off to one side. And they said if it didn't come with the car seat to not use it because the toys and things you can get for car seats are not tested for safety in the event of a car accident. Good Luck!

The safest one would be the one that has had the fewest recalls. All car seats are supposed to be manufactured to meet government standards, so if made correctly, there is no single answer. Check _Consumer Reports_ or a consumer agency for information on which brand has been recalled most or least often.

The SAFEST car seat is the one that you will use correctly EVERY time you put your baby/child in the vehicle. Most stores will let you put the seat in your car to see if it fits correctly as well. Play with the seat, see how everything fastens and unfastens. How does it install in the car. Is it a convertible? Is it easy to switch from rear facing to forward facing? Can you get the straps tight enough when your baby is in the seat? Good luck.

Britax and graco are excellent brands and are recommended by many different organizations. Best thing to do is some research through the internet or better business bureau. Also with newbornes and babies alot of hospitals will provide you with a very good rated baby seat to take home with you upon discharge. They also offer first time parenting classes that will give you many things to consider that you may not have thought of. And they give you tons of coupons and free samples.
Hope this helps

Britax is a very good safe brand. It is expensive, but in my opinion worth it. As for comfort... only a baby could tell you that and their not talking. My daughter appears to be quite comfortable in her Britax if that helps.
