The PSX is only available in Japan and was a big flop. Sony wanted to create a complete home entertainment system with an integrated PS2 but no one bought it because it was overpriced and had software problems. The original release was rushed and consequentially was missing several items from the promised spec. Some of these problems were resolved with software upgrades later but it never really regained its status. PSX is also a name used for the original Playstation which many people own.
