But it depends if you're looking for fiction or nonfiction books about the Reconstruction.

"Beloved" by Toni Morrison occurs in that period. While she doesn't come out and talk about the Reconstruction, the characters are shaped by slavery and Reconstruction.

You might also want to look at early realist works, 1865-77.
