There are people who have some theories about acid content in the body, which supposedly stores a lot of toxins in your fat. The diets offered are probably good and healthy, but not for the reasons they put forth. The following is from a chemist who punches holes in the pH Miracle type Diets and water sellers.
"The bottom line here, in a nutshell, are a few basic facts that I believe anyone with a solid background in chemistry or physiology would concur with: "Ionized water" is nothing more than sales fiction; the term is meaningless to chemists.
Most water that is fit for drinking is too unconductive to undergo signficant electrolysis.
Pure water can never be alkaline or acidic, nor can it be made so by electrolysis.
Groundwaters containing metal ions such as calcium and magnesium can be rendered slightly alkaline by electrolysis, but after it hits the highly acidic gastric fluid in the stomach, its alkalinity is gone.
The idea that one must consume alkaline water to neutralize the effects of acidic foods is ridiculous; we get rid of excess acid by exhaling carbon dioxide.
The claims about the health benefits of drinking alkaline water are not supported by credible scientific evidence.
There is nothing wrong with drinking slightly acidic waters such as rainwater. "Body pH" is a meaningless concept; different parts of the body (and even of individual cells) can have widely different pH values.
If you really want to de-acidify your stomach (at the possible cost of interfering with protein digestion), why spend hundreds of dollars for an electrolysis device when you can take calcium-magnesium pills, Alka-Seltzer or Milk of Magnesia?
Electrolysis devices are generally worthless for treating water for health enhancement, removal of common inpurities, disinfection, and scale control. "

I'm pretty certain you cannot look into the eye and determine the acidity of the body...that's crazy!

Zelda is so wrong in her answer that PH in the body is meaningless. Too much acid in your body is a breeding ground for free radicals, bacteria, inflammation and yeast....all leading to auto-immune dysfunctions. If your body is acidic, you are sick. People test their swimming pools for PH, if it is acidic, you cannot swim, bacteria grows there...so we need to test our bodies for PH as well. 7.4 is ideal, Under 6 you are starting to become acidic and need to change that. In cancer patients, 100/100 measured less than 5.5.
You need to make your blood alkaline for optimal health.

Eating a raw foods diet (fresh fruits, veggies and unrefined oils) will help to alkinalize your body.
(FYI - acid is the opposite of alkaline.)
