Not necessarily. I always had tender breasts before my period started, my only symptom. No cramps, no bloating just sore breasts. When I got pregnant with my first 3 children I had the same soreness but it did last longer. However, I am now 3 months pregnant with baby # 4 and haven't had any tenderness yet. They are definitely growing like mad, but aren't sore at all. I am thinking that that might be because I was nursing my daughter up until I got pregnant so maybe that helped me not have any soreness this time.

The answer is - you can't always. Breast tenderness from early pregnancy can sometimes be more severe, or of a different type but not always. sometime sit can be just the same! The difference is, it doesn't go away.

With me I knew something was up because I started having period cramps and breast tenderness about 2 weeks before my period was due!!! When my period was due I got 1 day of slight brownish spotting which then stopped but the tenderness continued. Normal breast tenderness tends to go away a few days before the period starts due to the drop in progesterone.

Every pregnancy varies for women. Both types of tenderness may be the same for you. Or, you may have no tenderness during your pregnancy. The best way to know if you're pregnant is by a pregnancy test. If the test continues to be negative and you are without a period then I'd see a doctor. You may still be pregnant but need a blood test to determine..

I didn't notice any difference until my period just did not start and the tenderness lasted a whole lot longer. Unfortunately in some people, pre-menstrual symptoms are exactly the same as early pregnancy symptoms and they can't be differentiated.

Well, I've never been pregnant. However, my sister has been twice and the first time breast tenderness is how she found out she was. She said that it was worse than her period, she couldn't even lie on her stomach b/c they were so sore. I guess it varies but, my breasts have never gotten that sore while I was about to start or was on my period.

It's a possibility. Take a test to find out. Good luck!

With a pregnancy test.

If you get your period, then it was premenstrual. If you're pregnant, then it's an early pregnancy sign. If you don't know, there's no way to know!
