I think its a good idea. If you lose it it is easy to claim in the lost and found. I also have my anniversary date engraved inside my ring. It has come in handy a few times, especially when someone asks how long we have been married, I can never remember the year.

You could just go to a jeweler and ask them to engrave the names....
