Let me tell you a little about women, not all women, but most. Ever since we were little girls, we've all thought we were going to get married. So we grow up just accepting that marriage is just something you DO when you love someone. It's not a question for most women. Men don't really think about marriage until they are staring it in the face. But women have been thinking about it in the back of their minds their whole lives. Why is it necessary? Because it's the ultimate expression of faithfulness and love. Because when a man pleges to be with us and only us for the rest of our lives, we feel loved and secure. We really believe he means what he says in the wedding vows. Because a lot of women are never really sure if they're REALLY loved by a man until he decides to marry them. It's a strange world we live in, but it's the truth.

We have been taught to believe that marriage commences after the wedding ceremony and this is a wrong idea!
Marriage is the commitment one person makes to another person because they want to share the experience of growing together and supporting each other in the most intimate of relationships (which also means having sex to enhance it).
If you are in a relationship with a girl and this is it, you're not going to be dashing off to be with someone else, then why not marry her? After all, the way marriage is in this country, it is not a one way ticket. You can always back out if you feel you might get stuck.
Men who dislike the option of getting married are afraid of getting stuck. They are always waiting to find "the perfect one" because they believe that the person they are with might not be that person. That somewhere out there that perfect lady is waiting and if she comes by and they are married, they will have lost their chance.
If you're with a girl and she's the marrying kind, then marry her if you are serious about being with her. If you don't want to marry her, then please leave so she can find someone worthy of her love.

As several others have said marriage is not for everyone.
However for many women, marriage is important to fuilfill their lives. And for all you crazy feminists, not because they feel inferior without a man dominating over them, but because they want a happy loving family.

Marriage isn't for everyone but it is a step in building a family foundation with someone that you hope to spend the rest of your life with.
