I keep hearing how the Palestinians only want peace but all they had to do is release the hostage.

Your assumption is that 'all Palestinians' are behind the kidnapping, and really, it is only a small group of radicals responsible for the violence. Palestinians and Israelis, are just like everyone else, they want to go to work, raise their families, live their lives in peace. Every time you see an Arab on western TV, they are shooting an AK 47 in the air and screaming 'death to America!', after a while you become conditioned to think Muslims are all radical fundamentalists, and Arabs are all bloodthirsty racists. Nothing could be further from the truth, most of them are people just like you and me, who wish the violence would stop, and they could create a peaceful world for their children.
The real reason for the violence has much more to do with land, money, and power. There are people who want the region destabilized, because it drives up the price of oil. There are governments that manipulate their people with fear and hatred, something that has been going since the dawn of civilization. We can only hope that Palestine will be returned, and that maybe the region can one day be made a more peaceful place.

They have a problem now. If they return the hostage and get nothing back, they will be admitting that they brought on all this suffering on the Palestinian people for nothing.

If they really wanted peace, they would fight their government for it, as hard as the Israelis do. But the Palestinian leadership is afraid of peace. Whenever there was a pretty good deal on the table, they walked out and have started 6 years of violence.

*sigh*

Because the Palestinians don't really want peace. They believe the land they are occupying is rightfully theirs and they are willing to use any means necessary to get control of that land away from the Israelis. What they fail to understand is that the Israelis have fiercely defended their freedom and their survival ever since they were recognized as a nation in 1949, and they're not about to change their ways. If that Israeli hostage dies, you can rest assured the Israelis will retaliate by killing at least one Palestinian (preferably a Palestinian soldier). See, the Israelis have already learned that when you're dealing with people who will resort to terrorist tactics (like Al-Qaeda, Hamas, Jihad, or the PLO) there is no such thing as negotiation or compromise. They want what they want and will kill innocent people in order to get it.

Lets not forget, the soldier who was kidnaped was there because the Hamas were firing rockets at Isreali civilian towns.

You would think that after 50+ years of getting their a--es kicked
these fools would wise up. You don't punch a BEAR in the nose even if you're wearing brass knuckles.

Most Palestinians would just like to live in peace, but not so some
Fanatics.

Where was the soldier and what was he doing when he was kidnapped? This is what we should know before blaming the Palestinians.
Theres always to sides to a story. In the case of Israel and Palestine, we are always shown Israel to be a victim.
Has anyone heard of the term Apartheid!
Research it and see the way the Palestinians are made to live.
When you take out hospitals, water and electricity supplies and withold the taxes due to a nation, what do you expect in return?
Is this humane or an act of war?

Hamas does not want peace. They want Israel for themselves. They want all of the Jews dead or gone from Israel. They are unable to wage a successful war against Israel, so they do anything they think of to cause fear.
Taking hostages is a desperate and stupid act. The Palestinians have been fighting against Israel since the 1940's and have been unable to figure out that they cannot defeat Israel, no matter what they do. I think of them as sore losers.

Since when have Palestinians wanted peace? They had years of opportunity to not bomb Israelis, not kill Israelis, not fire mortars and shells at Israelis, and yet, they have failed to refrain from these activities at every step.

The Palipigs don't want peace, they want the elimination of Israel and the eradication of Jews. That is why they elected Hamas - a terrorist organization whose guiding principle is the eradication of Jews and Israel.

They are angry as can be because of the way Israel treats them. Israel looks at them as disposable people and thinks nothing of it when they blow up their cities and kill the Palestinian people.
Israel went over and took the land because they said the Bible said it belonged to them. And they have the backing of the Bush Admin. What Israel does not realize is that they too will become disposable people to Bush as soon as he can figure out another strategic location for his war mongering in the middle east.

We aren't all idiots reichman. They can stop the tanks and artillery by returning what doesn't belong to them. They want people to die. They could return a dead body and it would stop. Your Palestinian Hamas friends are in the wrong this time and so are their enemies the Hezbollah in Beirut. Why don't they just kidnap each other. Nobody would miss a few terrorists.
