One man's 'terrorist' is another man's 'freedom-fighter'. Be careful..there are 2 sides to EVERY argument and until we listen to both then terrorism will be with us for a long long time. Trust me. I know what I am talking about.

A terrorist is someone who is willing to cause terror in an effort to promote their personal cause. Unlike a freedom fighter, a terrorist does not discriminate when it comes to killing. A terrorist will blow up a school bus full of children, a day care center or a hospital. One other attribute of a terrorist is that although they may be state sponsored, they typically are not part of a legitimate government.

Terrorists also come in all shapes, colors and persuasions. They could be leftists, fascists, neo-nazis or animal rights activists. The key is that they believe their cause is more important than human life and the rule of law. As such, they wish to create anarchy through terror in an effort to force governments to change.

Terrorists are people who wish to harm or kill YOU simply because you stand between them and their goal.

There are a variety of causes of terrorism. It could be religion, economics, ethnic, racial or many other causes.

You are NOT a terrorist if you are defending yourself from attack.

Anyone who commits violent acts in the name of politics or religion. Or as Wikipedia says:

Terrorism refers to a strategy of using violence, or threat of violence to generate fear, cause disruption, and ultimately, to bring about compliance with specific political, religious, ideological, or personal demands[1].

Use arbitary violence where talking would do... by this definition, US is the biggest one that is on the lose and the damage it has caused world over is extensive and well documented, but sadly it dominates the world militarily for the present.
