As the prior poster notes, value is relative: a book that has no value to the general public might be priceless to a collector or to someone who has a nostalgic attachment to it.

Besides taking the books to an expert to have them professionally appraised, the easiest way to check is to go to a used book sales depot and see what auction houses and professional dealers are selling the same book for. I've linked to Alibris, one such clearinghouse, below.

That will be difficult because the potential buyer must see what condition it's in. Also, it's not because a book is ­"old" that it is "rare". You might start by checking with various old and used bookstores in your area. Get an evaluation (usually done for free) and then decide.

There are books on values; however, ebay has thrown all that out the window! The value anymore is how much you can get for them on ebay- see if you can find them on ebay and what they are selling for.,
