I have never felt like an adult and I'm sure I never will! I'm married and have children of my own but I would still love someone to look after me.

For me, it was at about 19.
But a funny thing happened. By my late 20's I felt even more grown up, and realized that I was __not__ really grown up at 19 after all. And every 5 or 10 years later, I have felt the same way.
Now I'm in my mid 40's, feeling like a grown up, and thinking that I was not really grown up even when I was in my 30's. I suppose when I reach the late 50's, people in their 40's will seem immature. It's one of the weird things about getting older, no matter what age you are.

First of all "what is grown up?".
From about the age of 7 we all begin to get a sense of responsibility. This gradually increases with age and varies between people. However, the more responsibility you have the more grown up you will feel. Even a 50 year old adult may occasionally revert to "child" behaviour and not feel grown up at all.

Feeling like a grown up, acting like a grown up, and actually being a grown up are all completely different things.
Legally you are grown at 18, but at 18, I felt like a kid so thought 21 was a good age to reach maturity. At 21, I still felt too young to be grown-up, so 25 was my goal to become a "sensible adult" Now at 25, I am in most ways *grown up* but like to think that there will always be space for my inner child to shine....even as a 60 yr old woman. It keeps life exciting, so never wish to be more grown up than you actually NEED to be.

I'm sure you're going to find this out when you start getting more numeral answers for this question. That definately varies from person to person. Some people never start feeling like a grown up. And for some people, that is so gradual that they don't even realize they are more grown up. When you start having more responsibility, that's when you are more grown up.

I dont think anyone ever really feels 'grown up' I certainly dont, nor does my husband, in fact, it seems now the kids have departed for their own lives, we are reverting! Its only when we look in the mirror, there's the physical evidence of being 'grown up' , the crows feet, the odd grey hair...that gives the game away, but inside our heads, we are definatelty not always 'grown up'! We look back and can see we've 'been there, done that and had many a T shirt' but still dont feel old....

Thats tricky. I'm 21 and don't feel very grown up. I am not all that mature possibly. My 20 yr old brother is quite grown up. He goes to Uni and has lived away. He goes clubbing and drinking whereas I havn't done any of that.
