Hi Guys, Im about 20 weeks pregnant. My belly is growing and i can notice that. My problem is: When i sleep on my back my stomach goes flat as if im not pregnant. Even when i touch my tummy hoping to touch the baby's body i don't feel it. But during the day after meals i feel fluttering in my tummy which i guess might be the baby. Anyone experiencing the same?

My tummy is not hard as yet and i was already a bit overweight before pregnancy.

please help...

Yes the "fluttering" is a butterfly feeling and that IS THE BABY. It is just too tiny yet to start kicking you hard but it won't be long!! You are fine. Everyone gains weight at a different rate while pregnant. Go on-line and look at photos as to the actual size of the baby at 20 weeks - it is still quite small - it will help you understand.

I started to feel my baby move at 16 weeks (its my first) I've been told this is unusual to feel the baby this early and it might be because I am very slim and also the position the baby is in that I felt it before most people do.

If the baby is in a certain position, or the placenta is in the way then you would not feel the baby. This can also happen if you are a bit overweight as there is more tissue to muffle the baby's movements.

Fluttering is exactly what it feels like and babies do tend to move after meals (mine moves if I drink anything cold or eat ice cream!) so the flutters are probably the baby.

My stomach goes flat when I lie on my back too!

I'm sure your baby's fine. You can ask your doctor/midwife to listen to the baby's heartbeat and arrange to have an ultrasound scan if it will put your mind at rest but many women don't feel their baby moving until they are about 24 weeks or even later. Everyone is different. I've been told I'm unusual feeling my baby move from 16 weeks!

Every pregnancy is different. I felt mine at about 5 months. My tummy did the same thing when i layed down on back didnt have one but when i stood i did.The fluttering you feel kinda feels like butterflies is probaly your baby. Thats how it starts out is small flutters and as they grow the movement starts getting more and more pretty soon you will start to feel like your carring an octopus you will be being kicked in punched from every which way.But if you are really concerned talk to your OB about it. You should be getting an ultrasound soon to see the baby and if you wanted to find out the sex of it.Good luck and congratulations

if you started out overweight, the chances of you even showing at 20 weeks are decreased. Dont worry i am sure everything is fine. The baby is still tiny give it time. Eventually you will e able to feel the baby more and you belly wont hide itself so much. Many overweight women dont even begin showing until much laer in pregnancy.

This is all normal. As the baby grows you will feel it move more. You won't be able to touch the baby's body until you are a lot further along. You baby is still pretty small plus it's surrounded by amniotic fluid. I was only able to really feel my babies' bodies in the last two months unless they were kicking.

Sounds normal to me. a 20 week fetus is about the size of a baby kitten. If you started out overweight, that is a small object to find.

20 weeks is a bit early to feel your baby move, especially if this is your first pregnancy. If all else is normal, give it a few weeks.

its normal. you won't be able to feel the babay just yet. i'm sure you have been to a doctor, he would have noticed if anything was wrong. don't worry too much about it, you will start feeling him/her in about a month.
