Yes, sometimes, I bite the inside of my mouth or tongue when I'm eating. It really hurts!

When eating it's best to take small mouthfuls and chew thoroughly. Also don't try to do anything else that requires concentration such as reading or watching TV because you are more likely to lose your co-ordination and bite the inside of your mouth.

When not eating try to relax your jaw and let your tongue fall into a natural position inside your mouth.

This is usually caused by a misalignment of the teeth. It is possible many people have not had adequate dental care and are suffering because of this. Also, remember that certain foods can cause the tissue inside our mouths to swell. Often eating in a hurry and not being watchful can also be the result. Lastly, some people are just more prone to it because of the way their mouths/jaws are aligned. *shrugs*

There is no way to stop it. I bite my lips - Usually when I'm bored or nervous. You need to tell everybody around you that you need to stop, so when they see you doing it they tell you off. It worked for me for a while but then people stopped helping me so I started again.
Try looking at yourself in the mirror while you are doing it, that way you will see how ridiculous you look doing it and that image may stop you. I had a picture of me doing it at a wedding and I looked well stupid. Good luck.

Keep your tongue inside your mouth when eating. Will make it more pleasant for your fellow diners too.

It happens to me sometimes, and I figured, my attention was elsewhere when eating. So don't do anything else while eating and eat slowly.
