In German, To translate "hello", the direct translation is "hallo" (hah-lo)
"Guten tag" (good day - pronounced gootin tahg), or just "tag" for short, often followed by "wie gehts" (vee gates), which is similar to "what's up?" is used to gree folks.
In Spanish, "hola" (o-la) is "hello", but there are many more greetings, usually starting with "buenos" (bway-nos).
there is:
Buenos dias (dee-us) - good morning or good day
buenos tardes (tar-days) - good afternoon
buenos noches (note-chase) - good evening.
When answering the phone, I've heard some spanish speaking people simply say "bueno".

german depends on the time of day usualy guten (good) followed by the time of day. example guten tag = good day. guten nacht = good night . or you could say hallo that is more informal.
spanish hi= Hola, that should get you around pretty fast.....
