If i did get to choose what country i came from it wouldnt be the UK.

I am American and proud of my country. I am also proud to be a Texan. If you don't have any pride in something then you don't care about it. Well I care about my country. Regardless of anybody Else's opinion I think the US is the greatest country. That is the pride I have as an American. I sure am glad that I don't live in a poor, third world country with a really corrupt government, no jobs, poor health care and rampant disease. Most people have some level of pride in their own country. It's human nature.

I guess is the way we are raise. I mean I have been grown up doing all the history about my country and beleving in all the goods my country has made. Now that I am grown up I have been questioning that myself. I could be spanish and be the same proud about that as I am now. However, the people that lived before me n this country have done a lot of good things and I kinda feel like I have it my DNA to make such things myself thou its not so true.

Its a complicate thing but I think the most suitable answer is that we have to feel like we belong somewhere, like we have a history and proud to be part of a something in this world. I guess most of us just feel lucky born in some countries that can provides as the luxury of a PC, of interent and other things in general.

Too true, we are all humans, why should one lot fight a war with another just because they happened to be born on a different plot of land, that through it's history has ended up with a different national religion.

Most Britons aren't proud of their country, they're proud of their team. Not many people who live here have anything good to say about Britain anymore.

Why be proud of "my country" I was born to? Well, I happen to know that America truly is the best country in the world because we are free- free to go where we want, work where we want, talk to whom we want, go to chuch where we want. There are peaple willing to die for my freedom. Although many peaple in other countries would like to come live here, many might have the same conviction I do about their country. They might love the fact that soldiers are willing to die for their freedom too. I do choose America. I hope a foreigner writes a comment here for ya.

just being born into a country makes someone proud of it
a person is only truly proud of their country when they find out the accomplishments that the country has done.

Well, I think there are two answers. I think people in general have a desire to feel superior to others. Nationalism or Racial superiority can be fed by this need. As for Americans, I think the IDEALS of the founding fathers are something to be proud of. We may not always live up to them, but I think we generally try when not being twisted by politics and greed.

I didn't choose to be Scottish, just as no one chooses what country or region they are born in but that doesn't mean you can't be proud.

I love being Scottish, I love my country and the people in it - there is nothing wrong with a bit of national pride, as long as it doesn't mean you hate everyone that isn't the same

first be proud of yourself. The people who have no national pride generally have no self pride as well. And yes you can leave this country at anytime. If you have no national pride I suggest you do so. Try france... they could use the help. I am sure you could find something to riot about over there... see ya
