A lot of people out there either with money or people who are being taken care of will give you answers that will just make you feel bad. I've asked similar questions before. We're in the same position - I'm in my 40s - no health insurance, can't go to the doctor. We've had a recent job loss and the electricity was almost turned off. Thank God for some helpful people out there, they kept it on BUT the electric company (FLORIDA) added two extra deposits to our accout (like 2 electric bills) so as soon as it was paid to keep it on, we were almost shut off again! When you get behind, people charge you MORE MONEY. I'm not talking credit cards either. I'm talking "just surviving" -- you may get answers but the people who come up with what they think is a good answer, isn't going to work. We get negative in our account - most of my adult life I've bought clothes at Goodwill. Our credit is screwed up so we can never borrow from anyone and we will never be able to own a home again. Life is hard. I know exactly what you mean. Living scared all the time sucks.

does your job have a retirement program? mine does, and i signed up and have 2,000$ in there, I only have 1 % of paycheck for this taken out. if I had to do this myself I couldn't do it. I was trying to save out 5 or 10$ out of my paycheck just to have and cant do it, things kept coming up.
ask your company about a retirement program.

Find a job with benefits such as a 401K retirement plan. Some companies require employees put in a minimum % while other companies put in a certain % themselves w/o the employee putting in any monies. I work for a company that does the latter.

Budget your money and plan for savings. Get a 401K or IRA.
