I have emergency custody, now a status hearing envolving both parents is coming up. I live in Kentucky

First check with your attorney. Your attorney can tell exactly what is going on... In Indiana a status heraing could mean that a party to the action asked the Court to set the hearing (perhaps a parent wants custody back). Or the Court may have set the status hearing to determine what is going on with the parties.
