Yes I agree they and their problems get ignored, their needs unmet and at a time when they haven't yet learned to deal with these issues. I think we need to teach coping mechanisms to young people starting around age 12. The schools teach so much jibberish why not teach them 1 thing we know they would all eventually use?

People aren't capable of thinking before they take their lives, that is why the take them. It is all very well talking but if you are depressed everything is so dark and the pain is so great that words mean nothing, opportunity falls flat and lack of a grasp on the scheme of things settles in. I'm not saying it isn't a good idea to try and do something, I am just saying that feelings can be so much stronger than logic. Suicide is also associated with a dangerous drop in chemicals in the brain so it is something physical that can cripple peoples responsibility for what they are doing to themself and their ability to think their way out of it also.

The general attitude of people seems to be that if someone wants to commit suicide, that it's that person's problem and it's nothing to do with anyone else. I (and I suspect some other people) was told over the Internet to "do the world a favour and die".
It's possible that people just don't know how to deal with a suicidal person, or they have experienced the loss of someone due to it firsthand. I'd imagine that a lot of people arfe just plain ignorant about it, and they don't take it seriously until it hits home.

they say sucide comes from pains so harsh that someone cant possibly go on. i use to think about suicde when i was younger and would have done it if i didnt believe in god. its kinda ironic. but anyways alot of teenagers dont have have the support they need from family or friends. the pain seems unbearable and people decide to take the easy way out. there not cowards becuase people take the easy way out all the time. its human nature. everyone has cheated on a test or at homework at least once in thier life. people who say its selfish are people who had normal lives. they dont know whats its like to have a human need missing.

Parents need to love and be parents not "friends" or too busy to listen. I had thoughts since I was 9 years old because I didn't have my mom, and my dad was too busy. I have over come them since I have accepted Christ into my life. But for 16 years I battled the thoughts and attempts. God had a greater purpose. From my experience, I'd say family involvement, lovingly is very important. Don't spoil with material things, we are humans that need hugs, kisses, and attention/time.

My friend darren committed suicide when he was 19. He would have been 33 in March. Lets hope someone does help them. I am now a Christian and God cured me of my own depression. There is a big hole in peoples lives, maybe these kids need to know they are created by a God who loves them, and not be told they are animals.

Firstly, how do you know they want to commit suicide? Because someone is feeling a little down is not exactly suicidal, and sorry to be a bit flippant but, you cannot see the symptoms. So it would be better to find out why "people" can't talk to friends or family about their angst/problems

well i am a youth worker, and i have now realised that youing people are discriminated against at evry time in there lives, this is something we need to challenge, and give them the support they deserve, as people seem to forget these youngsters are not just annoyance but these people are the people of our future! we should respect this and help push them forward instead of tampoling on them and pushing there issues aside.
suicide is one that i have dealt with and it is hard, but with the support and friendship that i put in place i helped turn there life around, now i hope this continues and they live a fruitful life.

this kind of attitude should be tackled right from childhood itself, if a child handles a situation with a broader outlook i dont think anyone need to suicide. self confidence in one self, is the most important quality that should be instilled in a child right its birth, automatically, so beautifully, the child when grown will have nothing to worry about as it can see only the brighter side of life.

This depends on where you're located. In most first world countries, I think that you will find adequate sources for counselling and well trained professionals (i.e. teachers, etc.) who are taught to look for tell tale symptoms of a child in distress. Perhaps the parents of such children should be trained to look for these same symptoms.
