To be able to show off our knowledge. For some it is just to earn pointless points. For those like me, it is like playing an endless game of trivial pursuit.

Some people are motivated to answer as many questions as they can in order to get points. As for myself, I don't do it just for the points. I do it because I like to help people out any which way I can. I've always enjoyed helping people ever since I was a little girl. It gives me a great sense of worth and boosts my self-esteem.
What about you? What is the motivation behind answering questions in Yahoo answers?

If you hang out here long enough, you'll find out. It is quite addicting. It can be informative and it can be funny. If you get enough points, you will not be limited to the amount of time you can be on here. A lot of the people here are intelligent - some are kids. Some people have questions relating to technology, others questions about issues going on in their lives. The only bad part is if someone is "hurting" and they ask advice, there are some people on here who think hurting them more is fun (but it is for shock value). You have to overlook the mean people - they are few and far apart though.

Yahoo answers is a platform which allows people to give vent to their curiosity and many of us want a place where we can write our thoughts related to general as well as topics related to specifec genere. here one can get vast variety of questions depending on the interest and one doesnt have to be sure that whether he is right or wrong about his thoughts. it also gives an altogether different satisfaction solving other's problem though they may be silly at sometimes.
one more thing it gives a great joy and feeling of completeness if your answer gets selected as best answer.
