Having a baby was embarrassing for me, I didnt let anyone go near my birth canal. Is it dangerous that my vagina isn't stitched after giving birth. Will I be able to carry another baby?

My baby weighed 8 pounds 71/2. I did tear, but I was too embarrassed to say anything to anyone.

It will not interfere wtih having another baby, no matter what.

If you didn't tear or have an episiotomy, you don't need stitches. If you only had tears inside the vagina, you don't need stitches.

If you had an episiotomy, if it isn't stitched, it will probably never heal correctly. If you *do* have stitches, it still may not heal correctly. Often it is stitched wrong just because it's impossible to match up 2 smooth edges and get it right!!

If you had a tear, you may be able to heal just fine with no stitches. It depends on how bad the tear was. With one of my births, the midwife offered me a choice: stitches, or sit with my legs together for 6 weeks. As local anesthesia for stitching never takes on me, I chose the never sitting with my legs spread...it healed just fine.

If you had a small tear its better that it heals on its own. Its only large tears or episiotomies that need to be stitched up. Its great that you only had a minor tear. You absolutely could carry another baby. Congratulations on the birth of your baby.

The only reason for stitches is if you were given and episiotomy. Or if you tore while pushing. Not everyone gets stitches and even if you do get them one time it doesn't mean you will get them every time.

Stitches vs. No stitches has nothing to do with carrying another child.

Don't worry so much, lol

ive had two children and havnt needed a single stitch.
I dont see the problem unless like the other person said you tore badly.
If you are worried talk to a health person.
I find most things embarrasing but i found i really had to get over it when i fell pregnant the first time.
Just keep thinking to yourself midwives see it all day everyday, and wouldnt you want to know if youve got something they have never seen before? so you could get it sorted lol
Really i would speak to someone and get it looked at if you are worried.
I dont think not having stitches even if you are badly torn would stop you carrying because its your cervix that close up and hold eveything in lol

THATS HARD TO SAY-DID YOUR PHYSICAN TELL YOU THAT IT WAS NEEDED AT THE TIME YOU DELIVERED?THERE ARE SOME WOMEN THAT DO NOT REQUIRE STITCHES(I RECEIVED THEM AFTER THE BIRTH OF MY FIRST TWO CHILDREN BUT NOT THE THIRD)AND THEY GET ALONG JUST FINE.IT IS HARD TO SAY WHETHER YOU CAN CARRY ANOTHER CHILD WITHOUT RECEIVING STITCHES-ASK YOUR PHYSICAN,HE WOULD BE A BIT MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT YOUR CAPABILITIES THAN THOSE OF US THAT DON'T KNOW YOUR PREGANCY HISTORY.INDIANS DIDN'T HAVE STITCHES YEARS AGO THEY MERELY SQUATTED BY A TREE AND DELIVERED THE CHILD AND WENT ON ABOUT THEIR LIVES AND I DOUBT THAT THE SETTLERS HAD THAT OPTION EITHER.CHECK WITH THE DOCTOR AND HE WILL ADVISE YOU OF THE NEED OR NO NEED FOR THE STITCHES.GOOD LUCK

Are you serious? Your vagina would only need to have stitches if it needed to be cut to aid the delivery of your baby or if it was 'torn' during the delivery. If not, no stitches would be necessary. Also it would be worth your while to do your pelvic floor exercises, which help strengthen the muscles in that area.

Did your caregiver cut you or do you know if you even tore? If you did tear, do you know the degree of the tear? Not everyone need stitches after the birth.

It is fast and better (ususally less painfull) to let your body heal on its own. However, you need to be sure you are keeping the area clean. It is afterall a wound. Get a small bottle with a spout lid and everytime you use the restroom, fill it up with warm water and a few squirts of betadine. Then rinse yourself off with it when you are done.

It's actually better for you to heal naturally, unless you tore severely.
