Many Israelis know this already (check out the liberal Haaretz newspaper -- available on line). But Israel, like all other nations, is plagued by political, military, and financial elites who gain money and power every time there is a war. Look at the US, for example. When will people learn that we can't afford the dangerous luxury of overpaid, violent, cynical and incompetent bosses?

No. The nation of Israel is built of land whichwas stolen from the palestinians. I dont just mean the west bank and Gaza Strip. I mean all of it. Around 1 million arabs were forced off THEIR land in 1947 to make way for a jewish nation. I suppose someone had to get the blame for the holocaust. The Arabs are a determined bunch of people. They wont stop fighting until Israel has disappeared. If the narrow minded Israelis would just get off land that doesn't belong to them, the conflict would end.

Umm, it's not just the Israeli's. It seems like everyone needs to learn this. However, when you're in the middle of it, it is very hard to see that. The problem is that once a conflict has started, both sides have to learn it at the same time.

Your right because Germany and Japan learned that in World War II. So how do you decide when a country commits an act of war? Certainly if they invade another country for the purpose of permanently taking it's land and dominating it's people like Germany and Japan did in 1940. I think each country is responsible for militants within it's borders that attack other countries.

Israel, in, fact, is not a violent people. They are an oppressed people. Why dont Hamas and Lebanon jut give back the soldiers they took. If Iraq took your son, wouldnt you want the US to get him back. I bet you would. If you would really like to know what is going on with Israel, Read about their history in the bible. It will bring you up to speed on Israel. The bible says that "Israel will be a stumbling stone to all nations" (including America). It is a ll a means to an end. Read about it in the bible. You will get alot better understanding of Israel, and God. That is Israeli land, according to the bible. God dispersed that land to the 12 tribes of Israel in a very detailed fashion. Problem is, the Israeli government is secular. but God said that he would gather up the nation of Israel from all the countries in the world and bring them back to their land,(which, by the way, was left abandoned until 1948). Now that Israel has actually done something with this land, replanted, and rebuilt (about the size of new jersey) now there arab neighbors want the land.God promises that he will protect Israel "for His name sake". not for them, but for Him. This is a promise that is garaunteed. But first, Israel must go through the 'time of Jacobs trouble'. Dark days ahead.

Huh? So, they should sit back and let themselves be murdered by sheeploving cumsucking Muslim terrorists? What kind of stupidity is that? Do you not think that Jews have a right to live, or that their lives are not worth defending?

Where did this stupid 'violence breeds violence' idiocy come from in the first place? It is a falsehood that flies in the face of the whole of human history.

Here's one truism: Pacifism in the face of violence is mindlessly suicidal.

They know it but it has to end somewhere. WWII bred a lot of violence...met with violence...but the countries involved in it are for the most part peaceful now.

The issue really isn't violence...it's the ability to admit ones being wrong and taking steps to better oneself.

it seems to me that the palastinians need to learn this lesson.

1. they elected a hateful terrorist regime to power, that is no less bent on the destruction of israel. They also want the land back that israel took from them in a war they started....

2. They end the cease fire. As far as i can tell Israel gave them a fair chance, now they blew it.

I have never been to israel, and am not jewish for the record. I just respect israel bc they seem to be tough A$$ kickers.

Not until the US can't protect it anymore (coming soon) and/or a major attack killed tens or hundreds of thousands of Israelis on their own soil. If/when that happens, you'll see them back off.

People only pay attention to the consequences when it costs them money or blood.

the ppl that engage in that type of long term violence rarely want to do it any other way, remember war is profitable and for the lenght of time it has been going on over there, it has made someone very rich and they will fight peace for as long as they can.
