CD ripped to 192kbps in WMA format are about as close to CD quality as you can get. They sound great and take up less space than an MP3 ripped at the same rate. As long as all your players can play them, I would reccomend WMA over MP3 any day.

MP3 is normally a Fixed Bit Rate encoding process. This means that no matter how loud or how quiet the music is, the same amount of data has been recorded. So in the gap between songs, you are still using the same bit rate (ex.192kbps) and as a result, wasting some of your storage capacity.
WMA is a VBR or Variable Bit Rate encoding process, so when the music is LOUD, your bitrate might be 320kbps but when there is no sound, your bitrate can fall to 0kbps. This is why players can generally play more WMA's than MP3's.
If you want to start using WMA's, just put a CD in your computer, tell Windows Media Player to Rip from CD, and there ya' have it! WMA's can arguably be better sounding than MP3's because of the fact that they are not constrained by a given bitrate when the challenging sounds happen (which is what can make that Lamb of God drum solo sound mushy and weird in MP3 but crisp and sharp in WMA!)
Hope this helps!

u no how things say .mp3 at the end
WMA's just say .wma at the end
if u had the same song in mp3 and in wma they would sound the same, the wma just takes up half as much space as mp3 files
