Go for the one that you saw on the PC World advert.
I've used it personally and it's amazing.

I think u should go for a toshiba. They're really strong and last long. If u want to run many applications it's better to go for a intel core duo processor. U might like the toshiba Qosmio G35. (http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/cmod.to?seg=HHO&coid=-30600) But on the other hand Fujitsu's are also really good, and they are manufactured only in japan.(http://www.pc-ap.fujitsu.com/products/index_lb.html) Hope this will be helpful for you. Also check cnet reviews.

laptop computers can be a rather tricky buy at times, I would suggest that you look out for the cheapest and yet latest desktop on the market,
the best way to do this is on what they call warehouse sale markets some of them are online.
these warehouse owners have a service where they sell laptop computers to normal customers like you and me, however with very reduced prices due to the fact that they do not have as much costs as normal shops do, such as rent and a employees etc. as you know most online shops have rather competitive prices sometimes cutting the laptop price to a half.
one such website for laptop computers is :

i would go for a sony vaio!
ive had one for over 2 years now, and ive had not one single problem with it, and they have some of the best computer screens on laptops, there so sharp!
granted you will have to pay a premium but when your work is as critical as mine is (university work + dissertation!) you have to go for the best!
