one thing very important is "will power" being able to resist wasting money, and anything you do not want is a waste of money, it must be something you need, sounds the same but there is a vast difference.
we all do it, go into a shop buy things we didn't consider while we are in there, small things, sweets, mags, keyrings, etc, etc, so you have to be very careful with the money, as it represents the golden key for your trip, without it you are in trouble.
why not try to figure out a route, where you will reach each destination when something is in season, such as fruit picking, hotel work, etc etc. have a set figure of money and try to keep it topped up to that level.
a bit like driving a long journey and trying to keep the tank 3/4 full all the time. to make sure you make it.
good luck with your trip.

That depends on a lot of factors.
* What countries will you be visiting? You can get by on L10 per day in Thailand, but for North America, count on L40 per day.
* Will you be working along the way?
* Do you expect some comfort or will you be roughing it all year?
* Will you be travelling with a partner (to split some expenses)?
For an economy style around the world trip, count on L8000. That includes a round the world plane ticket.
The Lonely Planet has a very usefull 'gap-year book' for this.

depends on where you are going, roughly though, you will need around £600 a month, 600 x 12 is about seven thousand.

It depends on what you're planning.
if we are earning while travelling you would need less. However keeping aside the extra amount you could earn perhaps 8k GBP is a substantial amount of fund.

If you are willing to Slum it and work where available you can get by with surprisingly little. I recommend a Minimum of £5k.
Make sure that you leave some money at home so that a friend or family member can wire to you incase of an emergency.

If you're staying in youth hostels and the like then £200 a week. If you're staying with friends, slightly less. You want to have a good time, don't you?? So approximately ten big ones.
