The US Government has lied about many wars. The increase of troops in Vietnam was based on an attack in the Tonkin Gulf that never happened. Some say that Roosevelt knew about Pearl Harbor and let it happen to get support to join World War Two. The Spanish-American War (Remember the Maine!) was also based on a hoax.

Not to mention the numerous covert wars that they lied about. Iran-Contra, the overthrow of Mossadegh in Iran, Allende in Chile, Arbenz in Guatemala. Also the war in Panama, against someone who was on the payroll of the CIA. Cuba as well . The Bay of Pigs invasion was supported by the CIA, and the people who invaded were trained by the CIA in Guatemala.

I assume that you mean that there was a DELIBERATE attempt to mislead the American public about something to justify going to war or escalating actions. Leaving aside the current conflict in Iraq, where there is no proof of lies, I can think of two.

1. "Remember the Maine" kicking off the Spanish-American War (William Randolph Hearst's New York Journal 1898)

2. Gulf of Tonkin during the Viet Nam war (LBJ 1964).

Well, let's see...You are right, Vice President Gore, Former First Lady Hilliary Clinton, President Carter, and others may not have told the truth about President Bush and the war, but I think we should treat them respectfully anyway. As to what other wars, I'd at least add Vietnam and Senator Kerry.

Does that help?

.All especially the cold war era. some of the lies were in place to prevent international incidents. other lies were used to maintain global relationships.

but like all lies the lasting effects are felt by the preceding generation.

all of them .war is for power and money .PEOPLE would be happy to defend americas shores if anyone tried to take over .TERROR is not a war it is an action by individuals and small groups .IF we butt out of everyone elses business and kept to our-self's we would be less likely to have terror on our soil.
