I bought a player that holds 200 tracks so I though half could be instrumental and half pop songs.
She is 43 and enjoys dance, R&B and chart music.
All replies will be much appreciated.
Prayers also wouldn't go amiss x

Thanks so much for your kind words and ideas.
My friend is hospitalised and not fit to be up and about or spend time with visitors. I'd love to sit and chat with her but only husband and children are allowed in.
She does really love her music tho, so I thought this might be something I could do.
Doctors reckon she won't see August ;-(
I have added Thats What Friends Are For, Thank You For Being a Friend, Wind Beneath My Wings and some Enya and Eva Cassidy tracks. I think Deeper Underground isn't appropriate and Untitled is too rocky (but a decent track tho the ending is again quite inapproprite - I love to think she'd be better in a week!)
;-)

This is a personal choice, so ask her... and make notes... ask her if she was ever on Desert Island Discs, just what eight songs she would take with her, she'll spill a lot, lot more and you can have a great trip down music lane togehter and make notes... tell her you're making her a disc... because you love her.
She'll be delighted.
I would... you're a friend to treasure... have fun together!

Sorry for your friend's misfortune and your soon to be loss. I like the suggestion of asking her what her desert island Cd's would be, but that's a tough one to come up with. I would not go half and half, you already said that she likes three different kinds of music. Put some music that you both enjoy on it so she can think of you while she is enjoying it. I know the present is for her, but your friendship is the greatest gift that you have already given. Keep them upbeat for the most part, but a few slow songs might be nice too. Good Luck, and hopefully your friend can hang in there longer than either of you think she can, as long as she's not in too much pain.

Songs that hold alot of happy memories for her, old favourites, stuff like that. Also if you can, ask her what her favourite songs are. You could always scan the internet for latest releases and musical genres etc.
Just like to say that its a really lovely gesture.

Give her something she doesn't normally listen too,
I recommend Pink Floyd's Dark side of the moon album.

Sit her down and reminisce about when you both went to clubs and parties, what songs really made you both want to get up and dance your a***s off.
My prayers are with you.

How about putting music on that your friend likes put a mixture of the music you listed onto the MP3 player. Please accept my sincere sympathy and i hope that she goes peacefully and not in a lot of pain.

err .. try to steer clear of depressing tunes.
maybe some old vocal trance from 1998 would do the trick, maybe you should tell your mate to get out and enjoy herself if she's dying (as well as listening to your collection of mp3s).
