Why is it when someone asks "what's that weird smell coming from my poop" does it get like 30 answers, then someone asks "where can i find a book on networking for small home offices it might get like 2 answers" every time i ask a poll or general type question it gets tons of answers but when i ask a specific one where people have to use their brain, it gets ignored..so is it ignorance, or just laziness? whats your thoughts on it.

mosst people are brainless shmucks! (just kidding guys)
i think its both. its just fun to come here and see what other people have to say. intelegent questions usually either get stupid answers or maybe one that actually works for you. the thing is most of the time we don't know the answers either, but we answer something stupid to make our selves feel better...

I think it is neither :) or may be I am too optimistic and/or idealistic. If we accept the assumption that most people come here for entertainment then it is easy to see why they would prefer to answer easy and more general questions. For those who seek knowledge the more specific questions provide greater challenge therefore they go for those.
And for the far and few in between who look for doing a service by answering very tough questions, be they specific or philosophical in nature, the mere act of answering provides joy and satisfaction of being both able to help as well as discovering something new about the subject and themseleves as well. Win win situation.
So do not worry, be happy. Keep asking and answering and enjoy the process no matter the outcome and the number of responses. It is often the quality rather than the quantity that matters and it may well be that that single answer is much more valuable than hundreds of others... Enjoy!

I think imagination is more important than knowledge, and the strange/opinion questions require use of both while the simple questions like, where to find a book on networking for small home offices--which can easily be googled or amazon'd, just aren't worth the time, and aren't as much fun. That's my opinion, and we all know that opinions are like assholes....all people have them and they all stink except for mine.

You probably ate something meaty.
Microcenter or Barnes Noble.
And, if you ask a stupid question you can expect a stupid answer and lots of them.
Besides they are opinion questions, and that means there is no right or wrong answer. If there is a right answer and it comes in first why be second? They do limit your answers you know.
And just google spades if you are looking for another tournament.

Thank you fried you called back my attention on what I usually changes people on the most intellectual and deficient field that contribute nation wide the sound and effective improvement to human experiences. Some of our colleagues sees these program as a field of playing and aiming of having more point as many as they answering questions either are they on the way to what asker mean or needed just to say something that will yielding them more point to increase their level, when! I count those as aimless and ignorance, but it must happened like that. This marginal indicates how people thinks nation wide especially youths. Those uses their brain are little, more effort to improve them oh,,- oh -----------

I would say a bit of both. It's a lot easier to answer the poop question. Less people will know about the more difficult questions.

maybe because they dont know the answer on it, and most people here are here to use their common and stock knowledge and didnt want to do a little research on your question. ignorance is different from not nothing the answer to a specific question.
for me... its LAZINESS.
